This week I revamped the look of the board, packages, and events in order to get it ready for an "alpha."
I decided to make the map square; this way, I can fit the board to be more like a Scrabble or Monopoly board. It also gives the board more space to include some helpers and designs that will help with the game flow and feel.
I added some boxes on the sides so that the game has a set layout. I don't want this game to be complicated to set up and make it as hassle-free as possible. Telling the players where to put stuff means it "takes away" a thinking step during the setup.
I also redesigned the package and event cards; they are now simpler, and packages have more emphasis on the story. This is important for the context of the events.
Also, I changed the rewards in the packages, making them their own score. This solved the issue of packages seeming lacklustre and boring when completed; now that they have their own reward, it makes events and delivering more meaningful.
The events got a similar makeover with colour; this was to make it easier for the player to keep track of the scenario choices. They can now see it with colour, but for colourblind people, the scenarios are still labelled, but I do plan on making it more colour friendly in the future.
Lastly, I updated the van to make it a bit better; the time slots are more prevalent, and their is an illustration to show time goes on packages.
