In preparation for the meeting, I drew up some eggs to get people's opinions on the size of the eggs the players will play with, the bigger eggs got more positive feedback but there may be issues with the gameplay if we choose to go for this size.
After the meeting, we decided that we needed a playable prototype for the next week, so I decided to draw out cutouts in Illustrator in order to get an idea of how much we were going to have to print, as well as the dimensions for the art.
I also checked the process of getting the elements for FOV printed out from the local printer in the town, stylograph, they are the ones that tend to print for our prototypes.
Today, I met with Igor and discussed our progress with the Escape game and FOV.
for FOV we decided to continue with making the prototype for Deauville, an event happening in the next few weeks. after the event, we will look into adding another objective/way to gain points in order to diversify gameplay.
For the Escape, we looked at our deadlines and decided to push things around, for now my job is to complete the events and story of the booklet, and then I will work on integrating puzzles and page transitions, as we need to start reviewing things like the story so we may start illustrations.
Today was all about cutting the material for the FOV prototype. Andrea and I cut most of the materials needed, sticking the graphics to the pieces of cardboard. we realised a few oversites, such as the tiles not having an extra cutout in order to fit onto the stands nicely, not having any objective cards, and finally not having the right ratio of tiles for the prototype.
the first two issues can easily be solved by cutting into the tiles again and printing the objective cards locally, but the tiles pose another issue, as they have to be all of the relatively same quality. but we will build that bridge when we get to it.
today is cutting the tiles in order to get them to fit into the stands properly, and sorting out the tiles ration. Andrea is going to reorder new stickers for the tiles, meanwhile Igor and I are cutting the rest of the tiles.
I will also print some new objective cards so that we may do a full playtest by 12:00. pressure is on.
The playtest went well, we ran into a few issues regarding the strength of the stands, as one or two broke, so maybe a redesign of them is needed. but other than that, people understood really quickly how to play and had fun. another playtest with fewer players is next. I will post my notes on the playtests below
