This first devlog is to get the ball rolling!
I will be going over what I have done, and what I have planned as of 30/09/24.
I started testing out game ideas in May 2024, just when my third year of college wrapped up. I wanted to get my game idea set, as I knew I wanted to do a board game, and go solo.
Initially, I was going to go for a hybrid board game and app, but this proved complicated and I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to follow.
This initial idea did lay out the game type that I wanted, I wanted something where the players chose a character and had some sort of RPG element. I wanted to use a device to connect to the board and have a device decide what happens in the game next. I still think the idea is neat, but it is unrealistic, board games cost money to produce, so having some sort of electric or RFID system in the tiles or cards would be too expensive, and I would be setting myself up to fail financially from the start.
I needed some kind of direction or theme for the game, so I initially wrote down some ideas of how I wanted the game to be. From the start, I wanted some sort of casual fun game, but also something with a lot of content and story for hardcore gamers. the ideas starting to pop up here have some similarities with the final idea that I ended up going for.
after some playtesting and initial concepts, I settled on the next day's idea, I felt as if it had the potential to grow into something I would be passionate about, and also fit the mould I wanted it to be in.
