After coming up with the initial idea over the summer, I sat on it, working on some aspects of the game and solidifying my image for it.
I want the game to be silly, fun, easy to pick up, and utterly chaotic!
After meeting with my final project supervisor, the legendary Dylan Schouten, I finally got past the first gear for the project and started properly planning! here is my first draft of the summary documents that Dylan asked me to do:
This put more structure to the game, and I was no longer walking blindly forward!
I should also mention the extra things I'm doing on the side for this project that you may see in future Devlogs!
firstly my dissertation, I'm writing it on: WHO SUCCEDS, WHO FAILS, WHO SUCCESFULLY FAILS AND WHY? A STUDY ON BOARD GAME KICKSTARTERS!
this will help NEXT DAY as I plan on launching it on Kickstarter, so hopefully by the time my dissertation is done, I will be an expert on marketing for the next day! hopefully...
for the past 4 years I've been looking forward to one module, and one module only! Sound Design! I've always loved sound design and how to make sounds! and finally in my final year of college, it's an optional module! but it comes at a price, narrative design... after all, I am making a story-based game (in some regards). The narrative design would complement the game immensely! and I would be able to create the characters and story all while killing two birds with one stone! so I decided to take narrative design! That said I still go to the sound design lectures cause I'm a huge nerd who hates having spare time.
With that all said and done! lets introduce you to some of the game characters! or at least the first draft!
the characters need to be diverse, interesting and have depth. in my narrative design module, I plan on delving deep into Hank, Sam, George and Phil! they will all have their ups and downs that will affect the game and its world. players will learn to play into their characters, or maybe transform them into someone new! These initial concepts are important to get down and improve!
