After taking time off for Christmas and New Year's, we are back with some pretty cool updates.
First of all, I've decided that I want this to be the flagship product of my new company, Clarke Games Ltd, a company I set up over the break in order to accommodate the financial challenges this project will have.
Clarke Games social media and accounts will be used to drive the marketing plan for this game. Having a registered and official name for the game is important for building trust with consumers, meaning a successful Kickstarter campaign is more likely!
Speaking of marketing, I've completed my dissertation on "EXPLORING THE LINK BETWEEN SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE AND THE SUCCESS OF KICKSTARTER TABLETOP CAMPAIGNS."
This paper essentially analyses successful and unsuccessful Kickstarter campaigns, finding what to avoid and what to do. Hence why I've set up a newsletter, company website, and social media!
Firstly, I sought advice from other business owners, such as Damien Scattergood, then I hired an accountant, and then finally went to Showcase Ireland to meet up and talk with business owners. At Showcase Ireland, I advertised my business and also got talking to Local Enterprise Ireland, who recommended I get a mentor, which is where I am. I'm currently awaiting the CRO to respond, which is what my accountant is in charge of.
I had to create the website and logo before Showcase Ireland, which took a few weeks, as I wanted something that would last and look professional. I used Google Sites for the website and Adobe Illustrator for the logo.
Lastly, I made busness cards to tie it all together, All of this is mainly for imaging for the game so that way people will realise that im serious about it and are more likely to back the project on Kickstarter.
Over the holidays, I took the game to France to playtest it. It was useful to have non-native speakers, as it really taught me the effectiveness of the iconography that I had made in the last devlog.
I also learnt many things I have to improve!
make the events less similar to eachother (some events have similar options to choose from)
create simpler mechanics
improve the icons and make the game loop more fluid
