for week three I focused again on the ESCAPE, cementing my narrative on overfishing in the Arctic regions, creating a loose story where the player will be on a big sailing ship, and have to save animals from the dangers of overfishing.
A young adventurer who is helping a scientist on a mission, They have heard about an animal that needs to be rescued from the ice, But it isn't going to be easy! There are big fishing ships that don't want you to see the real state of the Arctic! As you move from the sea in your sailing ship, to the icebergs on foot, you realize that the Arctic is not what you expected, although there are animals there, they all need help as their home is slowly melting! (As you help the animals and learn about them you *******************) if you hadn't come it would perished from the melting ice and from the pollution of overfishing!as a first rough draft, it was enough to finish my selection of cards and start the world-building, I took a template that we made in Digital storytelling and made this:
Archetype: The questthis along with some more work I did set the ground rules for the story, but it is important to note that this is a draft and subject to change.
I also completed the translations for À La Folie, this was a more visual rule book compared to Dino Picnic, but had the most translations when it came to the game terms, for example, the name of the game was translated to Connected, which is very different to À La Folie, which should translate to roughly "to the crazy" which is a reference to the flower plucking game - he loves me, he loves me not- which some may remember from one of Yoshi's minigames from New Super Mario Bros DS. Unfortunately due to the lack of similar terminology in the English version, we cannot make the link to the "Loves me?" game for the words in the rule book, although the imagery stayed, the terms did not.
